What Causes Shooting Pain And Sickness In The Lower Abdomen?
Hi I m 32 female generally in good health. Over the last 2 weeks I ve had a constant nervous butterflies feeling in my stomach. I have felt sick at times but not been sick. I ve lost my appetite and I haven t been sleeping well which is making my tired mid day. I also get a shooting pain in the lower part of my stomach both sides. This tends to happen when I sneeze or sometimes when I turn over in bed when sleeping. I have moved location recently but this was over 3 weeks ago and I have settled really well. This has also affected my period (no I am not pregnant)
As per my clinical experience, the shooting pain and sickness lower abdomen indicates possible pelvic inflammation or ovarian cyst type lesion which is also responsible for delayed menses. My guidelines at present: - Drink more liquids and maintain hydration - Consume tablet dicyclomine or drotaverine after meals with antacid for immediate relief of abdomen spasm - Avoid any weight lifting or strenuous work Discuss need of any ultrasound examination of the abdomen and pelvis during your scheduled visit to your OBGYN.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
