What Causes Shivering, Chills And Freezing?

My father is 76 and has a history of blood clots in his legs and was hospitalized with ones in his lungs 3 years ago. This week he has had some pain on the left side of his abdomen. Last night he got sudden shakes and chills and was freezing. This morning, when I saw him, he was feeling great-- lots of sleep and no pain in his side. Well-- at 9pm tonight, he got hit with the chills again and refused to let me call 911. He put on 2 sweaters and got under about 7 blankets and as he warmed up he went right to sleep. He is snoring now and his fever only hit 99.6. No ER will let me know if I should call 911 while he is asleep, or if we can get him checked out tomorrow. I am scared and keep checking him to make sure that he is still alive. Advice on what this could be??

I can understand your father concern

don't worry ,being an old age body immunity power will be low
here fever and chills and pain in left side of abdomen indicates the kidney issue
so I would like to suggest you ask him is there any difficulty in passing urine or not

better have a ultrasound abdomen to check the status of intra abdomen organs like kidney,prostate and bladder

infection either of these organs may lead to above symptoms

plz let him take antipyretics like paracetamol 500mg thrice daily,antibiotic like cefixime 200mg twice daily along with plenty of water may reduce the symptoms

plz do the CBP.RBS.ESR.RFT FOR further management also

having these reports consult your family doctor or HCM
OK DONT WORRY .it will subside .
