What Causes Sharp Stabbing Pain In The Mid Back On The Right Side?

I have sharp stabbing pains in the middle of the right side of my back. It is extremely uncomfortable. It started the night before last. I took advil and it seemed to subside. Not really noticeable again until last night. It subsided some but since noon today has been terrible. I e been taking 4 advil at a time since last night and if that s helping I m grateful but it feels like I haven t taken anything. No fever. I ve drank about a gallon of water since noon as well. The pain is still in the same place and hasn t moved. I am assuming it is a kidney stone in my kidney. What can I take or do to alleviate the pain???

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It is a good idea to drink plenty of water. Besides Advil, I suggest you try Tamsulozine for a week or so. At your convenience, see a doctor for a CT urography scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen, General Surgeon
