Good evening Doctor I had a laproscopic bowel resection on the 1st Feb 2015. my bowel movements on the whole have been good sometimes firm mostly loose, I have been experiencing sharp sensations lower abdomen on and off since operation. this more often than not occurs after a large bowel movement ( not size,but amount Any information would be invaluable P.S I have made an app with outpatient clinic of the hospital where procedure was performed Sincerely Carol

Hello,

As per my surgical experience, the sharp sensations in lower abdomen are common and absolutely normal part of recovery when there is resection and anastomosis procedure is performed. It takes around a period of about 6 months to get his issue settled. If much bothersome, anti spasmodic medication as dicyclomine or drotaverine would help great way.
