What Causes Sharp Radiating Pain From The Lower Back To Legs?

I get a throbbing pain that starts in my lower back and radiates down my right leg when I lay down in bed. When I get up the throbbing goes away after about 10 minutes. I have seen my regular doctor. He prescribed a pain relieving gel to be applied to the area of the pain. This situation has been occurring for approximately 1.5 weeks. What do you think could be contributing to this situation?

Hi..Can understand your concern. As per your query sharp pain which is radiating from lower back to the legs ,it may be possible that any nerve entrapment is there ,it may be in any lumbar vertebrae or other point which is supplying your calf muscles. You need to go for an xray and MRI to know the exact cause.I would suggest to go for physiotherapya, there are certain postures which can help cure your problem. If pain is more you need to take analgesic like aceclo-MR twice a day.you can also calcium and multivitamin supplements for few months..Stil if not feeling better you should go to a orthopaedic doctorfor proper examination...I hope the information helps you...Take care.
