What Causes Sharp Pain In The Right Heel?

In my right heel, on the inside, I get a sharp pain with certain movements, somewhat like a bee sting or a needle poke. It seems to occur when I bend over at the waist putting pressure on the lower leg or foot. It is not constant but only occurs with certain movements of the foot and body. I noticed it first about 1 week ago when I was applying ant poison on my driveway. I thought I had been stung by an insect but then it has occurred more frequently and I notice it only certain movements. It occurs on the inside of the right heel, about 2-3 cm around the curve of the heel.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Possible calcaneal spur most likely which is giving impinging pain over the heel area.

An X-ray with the PCP and best management can be obtained.

Primary relief with ice application, analgesic as Ibuprofen if no history of drug sensitivity.

Wearing soft slipper and avoidance of tight shoes or high hills if using.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel,
