What Causes Sharp Pain In The Left Palm?

Hello Doctor, since about 10 days now, every night sitting here at my computer, I get a sharp pain in the palm of my left hand, then goes right up quickly to my heart. I hurt like hell, and as soon that it happens I get up and move around and cough to stop the pain. It does stop, but the second I sit back down to my computer, it can do it continuously until I go lay down, my arm stretched down beside me. I am scared due to the fact that it s every night, and steady until I lay down. This has been going on for 10 days straight. It did happen to me over the years, but once a month or so, but steady like this tells me there is something very wrong going on... I do smoke cigarettes, haven t drink alcohol in 2 decades, I am Diabetic, I have fibromalyagia, COPD, NASH, I am 56 years old. Joyce Lacombe my email is: YYYY@YYYY

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It can be due to musculoskeletal pain.

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Acetaminophen or Diclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist, you can consult an orthopedician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
