What Causes Sharp Pain And Red Spot On Left Ankle?
Last night at 3 am I felt a piercing sharp pain on the inside of my left ankle. Jumped out of bed because it felt like a hot needle and found a perfect half dollar size red mark. The entire area was faded by 5 am, gone by 10 am until I showered. Area was pink after shower. Gone at this time. I am 61 years old and take Lipitor with excellent results since last March and headache relief when needed. I did not detect a puncture as in a bug bite in the red area. Did something bite me? I saw nothing. Thanks, Marilyn
Brief answer: Yes , i think something did bite you.
Detailed answer: I had gone through your question and understand your concern. See , sharp piercing pain and feeling like hot needle points towards an insect bite. There may or may not be any insect bite marks. Also there was sudden redness which subsided later on without any other symptom. So, according to me what you experienced last night was an insect bite. And as the symptoms and the red spot faded away , there is nothing to worry about.
I hope this information was of help. Let me know if you have any other query. Thank you.
