What Causes Sharp Pain After Eating Tortilla Chips?

I was eating some hard, crunchy tortilla chips with some hummus on the side. I swallowed a chip and instantly felt a very sharp pain in my throat as it was traveling down my esophagus but I am not completely sure if it went into my stomach. It has been 2-3 hours since that incident and now it feels like I have something in the back of my throat, small heartburns, and coughing as well. But I am breathing, eating, and drinking normally with no problems but I still feel something is in the back of my throat.

Hello,

It could be due to indigestion or intestinal colic.

As a first line management, you can try carminative syrups for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
