What Causes Sharp Left Sided Chest Pain While Breathing?

Believe to have had reflex during the night and now have sharp pain the goes from back to front of chest., hard to get a deep breath without pain. This start last night after eating and falling asleep shortly after, pain started when I woke up.. No known heart problems, no high blood pressure but I m a 56 year old non smoker. What should I do, I really don t want to go to the doctor. No fever, just pain in left side of upper back and chest. I have had reflecting in the past, but do not ever remember this pain. I do have a lot of back problems. Advice please

Hello,

I think you should get your heart checked before thinking it is just reflux. You should eat at least 3 hours before bed, sleep with elevated head with pillows,eat small portions of food and non acidic foods. You can use anti-acids such Pepto bismol.
