What Causes Severely Chapped And Painful Lips During Summers?

I am a 58 year old female who only within the last couple of years has been experiencing dark, dry, chapped lips that feel like glue and slightly painful. This only occurs in the summertime (not winter when you expect to have chapped lips. Again, I have never had this problem before and I drink plenty of water. What can cause this and how to get rid of it?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

As per your case history of dry lips, my treatment advice is-
1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a Chaptex cream twice daily on it.
3. Apply a Kenacort oral paste twice a day on the affected region. If the problem persists then consult a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
