What Causes Severe Weight Loss While On Amlodipine And Atenolol?

I am taking amlodipine(10mg), atenolol(25mg) and hydrochlorothiazide(12.5mg) for hypertension. I was weighing 142lbs and now I have lost an extreme amount of weight. Is this normal to lose weight while taking these meds? I also suffer from constipation.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi..

I have gone through your question and I truly understand your concerns. With such presentations in my clinic, I would first rule out serious conditions such as cancer by asking relevant clinical history and investigations.Once i am sure that this is not life threatening then I would think of diabetes mellitus because diabetes is commonly associated with hypertension.
Research says there is no unexplained loss of weight due to use of amlodipine and atenolol.
In order to diagnose it correctly, you need an expert advice. So I would advice you to consult specialist doctor for further evaluation.

Regards
