Radiation Oncologist 's  Response
Hello,

Cancer treatment can be really stressful and associated with a lot of side effects, unfortunately, one has to go through this process to achieve cure.

This weakness can be due to chemotherapy, which results in low blood counts, which in turn reduces our immunity thereby causing weakness and susceptibility to infections.

Yes, during such treatment, the desire to eat food is lost, it is a very common phenomenon noted with cancer therapy, however, I would advise that she should be given, if required to insist and make her realize the importance of timely and regular food intake.

There are food supplements available such as protein powder which help in maintaining weight, you can discuss the same with your treating oncologist.

Regarding ayurvedic treatment, there is no scientific data to support for or against its use. You may consider, however, whether it will benefit or not, nobody knows.

My advice would be - to ensure that she eats sufficiently and maintains her weight, completes chemo as advised and let's be hopeful that we see a good response to chemotherapy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
