What Causes Severe Vertigo?

Hi I woke up with vertigo this morning and it lasted for about 4 hours. I have never had this happen before. I am still dizzy. I have had a bad cold for about three weeks and have taken different cold medicines. But the day before yesterday I took the cold medicine Tukol . I took another dosage last night. I take abilify shot once a month and seroquel, lexapro and artane daily. My vitals are fine, but I believe I had a bad reaction to the tukol cold medicine. I have a doctors appointment on monday. Since I am still dizzy, should I just go to the emergency room? I am 61 years old and female.

Hi There

After going through your query I understand your concern.

I would like to tell you that Tukol is generally very well tolerated medicine without major side effects but as you are taking Lexapro witch has drug interaction with Dextromethorphan content available in Tukol. Escitalopram and Dextromethorphan increases serotonin level in the body if taken together and causes symptoms like dizziness, headache, confusion etc.

Kindly stop taking Tukol as for now and consult with your Physician for further management.

Hope to have been Helpful.

Kind Regards

you are already taking 4 anti psychotic drugs and also took tukol. all these medicines have dizziness as side effects. As you have said that your vitals are normal, so you can safely wait till Monday, your appointment day. you should stop taking tukol or any other medicine for cold without consulting your doctor.
