What Causes Severe Toothache Despite Taking Advil And Orajel?

I've been having a bad toothache on my front tooth for 6 days now. It's sensitive to air, cold drinks, and even room temperature liquids. I went to the dentist and was told that nothing was found and to just take Advil. The pain is stopping me from eating and i need to find a solution as i'm a nursing mother to a newborn. I've tried Orajel and it won't help at all.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCAREMAGIC..

As per your complain it seems that severe pain in your tooth can be due to causes like deep decay while cracked tooth or deep gum infection can also be a cause..

At times cracks or cavities can go undiagnosed due to overlapping in the x rays, therefore x rays has to be taken from different angulation for ruling out the exact cause of the symptoms..

I would therefore suggest you to consult an Endodontist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and multiple x rays can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

As of now you can take Acetaminophen or Advil for pain relief and along with it do cool compresses over the cheek..
Take a soft diet..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
