Hi,I am Dr. Radhakrishna (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello Dr.I have been waiting to get in with a GI and during this time of waiting, I have been to the ER with horrible stomach pains. Not cramping, sharp or burning just pain. It has happened 4 times since August the 1st and each time it happened after I urinated. The pain last for about 5 minutes (one morning from 3:30am to 6:30am) Nothing helps ease the pain. What would you be concerned to look for as a possible diagnosis?
Hi! Good afternoon. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
If I were your doctor, I would like to examine your abdomen physically at the time of your abdominal pain when it occurs. Depending on the examination findings, I might go for a urine routine/microscoscopic/culture sensitivity test, a complete blood count, an ultrasound of abdomen, and then if need be would advise you for a possible endoscopic evaluation of your GI tract by a gastro-enterologist. Till then you could go for a anti spasmodic and a proton pump inhibitor drug for a symptomatic relief. Further management would depend on the examination findings and related investigations.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. I wish you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
