General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Abdominal pain is a possible side effect of diltiazem along with nausea and indigestion. These symptoms occur in 1 to 10% of persons who use this medication (1 to 10 out of 100 persons )

If the pain is severe however, it would best for him to be seen to rule out other causes such as a surgical cause eg appendicitis, obstruction of the bowel etc

His doctor can assess for one of these conditions.

I hope this helps
