What Causes Severe Stomach Bloating And Rib Cage Pain?

I m 60 yr old female, 238# s, woke up with odd pain inside rib cage this morning, in the right side at the back of rib cage. Have been trying to lose weight, but no results from extra walking/jogging, have been pretty bloated for past few months, since HRT Rx expired. Recently increased my Vitamin E and C. Using c25k app during the week, walking 5 miles on weekends.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think the pain on the right side at the back of your rib cage is due to bloating.

Once the stomach is emptied totally, and the bloating is reduced, you will not feel the pain.

Take probiotics and simethicone for the bloating, and stabilize intestinal flora. Take antacid and spasmex to reduce the pain.

If not working, then, further tests are required to determine the right diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
