What Causes Severe Shoulder Pain And Neck Pain?

Slept with my head at a weird angle the other night. Now I have a pain from base of neck to shoulder and down almost to my elbow. It is a dull pain and hurts in the shoulder area the most, and doesn t go away, neck and arm hurt but only when neck is in certain positions. I can t see Dr. til Monday. Any idea what this is and how to help heal?

Welcome to HCM,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have shoulder pain when diagnosed with a tumor in the neck . Well the symptoms you mention in query occur due to many reasons like bursitis, tendinitis, torn cartilage , torn rotator cuff, dislocated shoulder or it could be due to tumor of neck also .

Apply warm compresses to shoulder and neck . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order certain test like X-ray , Ct scan or MRI . Doctor may also check the mobility by asking you to perform few movement .


Doctor may prescribe muscle relxant , anti inflammatory . For now start physical therapy of shoulder and neck . Doctor may also refer you to ENT specialist for any infection in throat of swelling in neck.
