What Causes Severe Pain Radiating From Collarbone To Neck Post Thyroidectomy?

I had a right side thyroidectomy 6 weeks ago and the pain radiating from collarbone to side of my neck is intense. I have problems lying down because my head hurts and is so tender. Also, I feel like the swelling in my neck has my collarbone extended.

Hello,

Pain radiating from collar bone to neck could be due to surgery conducted in thyroid gland. I suggest you to avoid lying on the side where pain is experienced. In addition, you can take a pain killer to relieve the pain. You may consult your surgeon also for clinical assessment and thus management.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
