What Causes Severe Pain In The Upper Right Arm In An Elderly Person?

HELLO, I AM A 61 YR OLD FEMALE. I AM HAVING REALLY BAD PAIN IN MY UPPER RIGHT ARM, IT SOME TIME MOVE UP TO MY RIGHT JAW (BUT PAIN IS LIGHT THERE). THIS PAIN COMES AT NIGHT AND WILL WAKE ME UP THRU OUT THE NIGHT EVEN IF I TAKE PAIN PILLS. THROUGH OUT THE DAY IT SEAMS TO EASE UP BUT COME RIGHT BACK AT NIGHT. I AM DIABETIC AND I TAKE AN ASPRIN A DAY. CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT THAT PAIN MAY COME FROM AND WHAT I CAN DO TO GET RID OF IT. THIS COMES AND GO ABOUT ONCE A YEAR.

Hi,

It can be most likely due to (neck issue) cervical spondylosis. But it is better to take an EKG (ECG) and TMT test to rule out cardiac issue to be on the safe side. Avoid high pillows.

Using an orthopedic pillow will be better. Muscle relaxant drugs like chlorxazone along with NSAIDs like Ibuprofen will be helpful get relief.

You can also apply a hot water bag and apply soothing gels containing methyl salicylate and diclofenac.

If no improvement then consults an orthopedical and have a neck x-Ray.
