What Causes Severe Pain In The Middle Back And Shoulder?

I have been having an occasional stabbing pain in my mid back area below my shoulder the past two days. It doesn t last long (seconds). It doesn t happen with exertion - I am usually just sitting watching TV, and today I was typing on my computer. I am 61 years old, and I guess because of my age, I am always concerned it could be my heart.

Diabetologist 's  Response
Hi,

A possibility of heart condition needs to be ruled out. So you need to meet a cardiologist to read an EKG and rule out this possibility.

However, I also think this is more likely to be a musculoskeletal issue. I would recommend testing vitamin D levels as well. Vitamin D supplement advisable. So you can initiate that if the test results are low.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
