What Causes Severe Pain In The Legs And Hips While Walking?

Suffering acute pain and difficulties standing + walking after a sideways bend. Does Parkinson Disease cause muscles to tighten as I feel the hip, pelvis, legs and spine tighter since diagnosis. Should I start working under supervision with Exercise Physiologist to reduce episodes of these current injuries as hydrotherapy x3 is not helping and can no longer do yoga poses. I m 61, female and in last year of diagnosis no longer able to do intense 1 hour of gym aerobics weights every morning before teaching work ? Now tired, poor muscle tone ...in one year ...got to reverse or limit to feel fitter. Prior to PD diagnosis had a severe fall at work with shoulder and ankle injuries...now PTTD with ruptured tendon Ortho Surgeon says not operable due to PD. Wear a rigid medical L foot leg brace every day ...suffer brakenkinesia? L side. Thanks Juli

Hi,

The rigidity of Parkinson's disease may be experienced as stiffness associated with vague aching and discomfort of a limb suggesting musculo-skeletal syndromes. However, since you are having pain on standing, walking and side ways bending etc., lumbar canal stenosis needs to be ruled out.

MRI spine (lumbo-sacral region) will demonstrate narrowing of the lumbar canal.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
