What Causes Severe Pain In The Feet After A Bunionectomy?

Hi, I had hammertoe and bunionecyomy surgery 1 week ago to fix a previous surgery I had in December. I also had to have 1 toe on my other foot revised after an October surgery.i have a pin in that toe. I have been keeping both feet elevated and am icing. I am getting severe pain at times in both feet after they have been elevated for a long time.this pain was so severe last night that it kept me up all night. There was less pain when I put my feet down.i am taking 7.5mg percocet q 4-6 hrs and duexis every 8 hours. It did not help with the pain when it was severe. Why would they hurt more when elevated?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The symptoms are due to postoperative pain.

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Aceclofenac or Tramadol for pain relief.

If symptoms persist, better to consult an orthopedician and plan for an MRI scan for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
