What Causes Severe Pain In The Ears?

So I ve was traveling back home in a car, when I got sick. My right ear has already popped but my left one has not. Tonight my was making extremely weird cracking sounds I thought it popped. But it hurts really bad now and I can t sleep I m still sick, but what do I do?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Read and understood your history. The popping of the ear can be due to the accumulation of the fluid in the ear causing increase in pressure hence the severe pain you have. This can occur only of the Eustachian tube is patent.
The other ear could not pop as the ET must have been blocked, again part of the URTI you must have.
I would advise you the following:
Instill nasal drops and take steam inhalation.
Do not blow the nose.
Take Ibuprofen if your have.
Take antihistamine
Take antibiotics if you have any left over or consult a Doctor or visit ER and get a proper examination and treatment.
