What Causes Severe Pain In Foot Radiating To The Ankle?

My husband has a right painful arch, especially after standing on his foot and walking for work. Pain travels up into the bone just below his ankle. He has been using ice packs and arnica, a natural healing cream. This has been going for three weeks. Two nights ago he could not sleep because it was so painful after a day of exercising and working in the yard all day. Today it is a minimal pain.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

He needs to rest it as much as possible. This is an essential component of treatment of any soft issue/bony injury.
Unfortunately healing would be delayed if he does not decrease stress on the foot some what.

In addition, the use of anti inflammatory pain medication such as ibuprofen, naproxen would be helpful.

I hope this helps
