What Causes Severe Pain In Breast Along With Productive Cough?

I fell hard on my right side and my right breast is terribly bruised. I can t take a deep breath without it hurting on my right side. I have developed a cough right after it happened and started spitting up phlegm and having pain. The fall happened two days ago.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Your symptoms with productive cough and pain in chest while breathing, suggests severe infection of lung tissue. In such a case you need investigations like CBC, X-ray chest. Sputum culture test followed by specific antibiotic and other needful medications according to findings. Please consult a physician. In self care, you should take rest / avoid exposure to cold and allergens / you can use hot water nag to foment chest, use cough syrup / drink warm water and eat bland, light and nutritive diet till you meet expert.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
