What Causes Severe Pain In Body Causing Reduced Mobility In A Child?

My 7 year old son was hospitalized with severe pain from head to toe. Discharged after 6 days and told he had post viral syndrome as he tested positive for having had glandular fever but not at time of hospital admission. He was admitted on 4th of November and discharged on 10th. He still was not well in my eyes and took him to our GP who referred us back to hospital where they repeated bloods but all came back normal and sent us home. He has started becoming less mobile with walking and constantly holding on to walls and also complaining of a sore back and head as well as still all over. He has wet the bed 3x and hasn t done this since he was 3. He also is finding it hard to get out of the bath or get up off the floor . He is on regular pamol and ibrufen but only just seems to take the edge off and I don t like the fact he is dependent on pain relief to get through the day. Some days are better than others and is most worst in mornings and evenings. Do you think he has been diagnosed properly?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

I think, in light of the fact that he cannot ambulate well on his own and needs pain medication consistently, that he should be re evaluated.

His symptoms do not seem to be improving at a fast enough rate. His bloods should be repeated and he may need additional blood tests looking for non infectious cause of muscle and joint pain eg autoimmune conditions.
He may need to be seen by a rheumatologist.

I hope this helps
