What Causes Severe Pain And Dryness In The Throat?
Hi,three days ago I woke up and experienced pain and dryness on the back of the right side of my throat and down to the adams apple. It also hurts a bit on the right side of the throat and down to the right side of the adams apple when I swallow and can be quite painful when sneeze. Also touching the area around and the right side of the adams apple feels tender, sore and inflammed. The left side of my throat feels fine and I don't have other symptoms. I do not smoke, take any medication and have any pre existing medical condition.
It looks like you have passed a viral infection of your upper respiratory tract (inflammation of pharynx and larynx). It causes dry throat, which burns or hurts during swallowing, painful cough or wheezing due to inflammation and swelling of vocal cords of larynx, chest pain or burning etc.
Sometimes the tissues around larynx (for example thyroid cartilages or thyroid gland) can be affected by inflammation and cause you pain when you swallow or touch it.
If your symptoms persist and bother you i would recommend you three days of Azithromycin and Ibuprofen to cure the infection and remove the inflammation.
Have a lot of drinks an water to ease your recovery. I hope you will be fine soon. Take care! DR ERIOL.
