What Causes Severe Muscle Spasms In Abdomen And Chest?
I am 58 yrs old and overweight, I get severe muscle spasms like Charlie horses in the abdomen and both sides of the ribs and in the middle of the chest, it feels like I am having a heart attack. Understanding your concern. As per your query you have severe muscle spasms in abdomen and chest . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like appendicitis , consuming foods known to cause gas in some people, such as milk products that contain lactose, broccoli , crohn’s disease , gastroenteritis , irritable bowel syndrome or urinary tract infection . Food allergy can also be one of the factor . Take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain. I would suggest you to avoid above mentioned foods , eat light and non spicy specially at night , take light walk after every meal , eat small and frequent meals . If condition doesn't get well then consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may order ultrasound , endoscopy along with stool test . Doctor may prescribe ornidazole , omeprazole , laxative , anti inflammatory along with antacids . Doctor may also refer you to urologist for UTI . Doctor may also refer you to chest specialist for chest infection .
