My husband who just turned 34 has migratory severe muscle cramps that happen once a day. They most frequently occur in his calves but recently he has been getting major bulging then throbbing cramps of the sternocleidomastoid. Today after mild exercise it was on the left side but it has been on the right side in the past too. He pointed it out to me and there was a sizable palpable lump. With some stretching by tilting his head back in the opposite direction the spasm or cramp subsided but I could still feel the muscle pulsing. An hour and a half before the neck cramp today when we were on a walk he said he felt a strong thump in his heart followed by a pause then another 5 or six times. Then with some deep breathes his heart beat went back to normal. Could that have been a cramp in his heart? What could be causing these spasms that seem to be occuring in major muscles of his body once a day? Is there something that can be done to help correct this problem. Are there tests that should be done for further diagnosis?
