Hi,

As per your query about having severe pain in lower back while you're being diagnosed with degenerative disc because nerves serving the muscles of hips and lower back are affected due to this. It can be due to various reasons like aging and low wear and tear of disc, and lifting a heavy weight.

I advise you to consult a physio therapist for suggesting special exercises which will help in supporting and stabilising the spines. He will also suggest warm or cool compresses and traction for an effective therapy. You need not to worry as it can be cured by maintain a healthy diet and weight with avoiding wrong postures and avoid doing heavy work and lifting weight. As of now you should take NSAID like Ibuprofen or a right choice of painkiller by consulting your physician.

I hope the information helps you. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jyoti Pandey
