What Causes Severe Knee Pain While Suffering From Foodborne Illness?

Recently I got sick from eating some bad food. I am having trouble getting my digestion back to normal and am experiencing pain in my joints particularly my knees and hands. My hands are arthritic but worse now and although I have problems with my left knee I now have both knees stiff and sore.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

This may be due to reactive arthritis. It refers to inflammation and pain in the joints that can occur as a reaction to illnesses such as the gastroenteritis that you experienced.

Gastroenteritis is inflammation and infection of the stomach and intestines- with abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever-- some or all of these symptoms may occur.

The reactive arthritis can vary in its intensity, though it would normally resolve on its own, if the pain is severe, you should see your doctor for assessment and treatment.
In rare cases, the pain may persist.

I hope this helps
