What Causes Severe Itching And Pain During Urination?

I got a Mirena placed this past Friday. The next day, Saturday evening, I started showing signs of a yeast infection. Got worse Sunday. Called my PCP on Monday and she called me in a Rx. It is now Wednesday evening, and the only symptoms I have are severe itching and pain when urinating from it touching the surrounding skin I assume. The itching is more on the inside of labia minora and around the opening of vagina. Not inside vagina. I want to know if it is ok to apply Vagisil cream on the inside of my labia minora and around the opening of vagina. Thank you.
