What Causes Severe Itching And Inflammation In The Vagina?
I am a 58 year old woman with an embarrassing but possibly serious vaginal issue. for about a year now the interior of the vagina grew extra layers of skin that could be peeled off - extreme itching, to the point the skin is now thin, red and bleeding - I do not know whether to see a dermotologist or a gyn or how to get relief. It is itchy to the point of me having to insert tissue to try and scrub at the itch resulting in bleeding - this is every day and night?

Hi, I think you can be having atrophic vaginitis. Get a pelvic examination done by a gynecologist.. You may need some hormonal treatment for that. It can be due to some vaginal infection also. You may need some antibiotic and antifungal drugs orally as well as vaginal to treat that. Hope it helps.
