What Causes Severe Hip Pain When Diagnosed With Bone Spur And Arthritis?
Hi! I have fairly severe hip pain. It has been diagnosed as bone spur and arthritis. Two weeks ago I had a steroid injection into the hip. Things didn t get better, actually somewhat worse until earlier this week. This coincides with topical treatment of the area with dba, somewhat sporadically using the rest of his bottle. What can you tell me about dba -- and should I be consulting my MD now or wait for my regular appt in 10 days? Thanks very much. Steve A.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
The bone spur causing hip joint pain is due to early hip joint arthritis by degenerative changes in joint. The Spurs need to be removed with surgery; which is also affected by dba.
Anaemia from birth & causes less number of cells in bone marrow, which produces red blood cells.
In those concerns, you should continue taking the medicines prescribed (not sporadically).
Consult your MD & the orthopaedic surgeon for earliest possible treatment (the spurs can proceed to form changes of osteoarthritis; a very painful & long-term problem).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
