What Causes Severe Heartburn Along With Excessive Weight Loss?

Hello, my husband has had heartburn for years. His condition seems to fit the symptoms of Barrett s esophagus. He has an appointment with a specialist, but I don t think he can wait due to so much weight loss. Also, he can not get food to his stomach and constant spits up heavy white mucous. What do you suggest. I m ready to take him to emergency. Thank you.

Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to gastroesophageal reflux.

I suggest using antacids such as Maalox.

I also recommend using PPI medication such as Prilosec.
