Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 77 years old and have experienced hearing loss the better part of my life and am now wearing top of line hearing aids from Costco. Even though I wear the aids, I still can t hear most conversations and am totally deaf without the aids. Costco hearing aid specialists tell me that there is nothing more they can do. I grew up in a German family culture and my mother often slapped me across the side of head.....ear areas which caused ringing and ear swelling for weeks and months. So, my kids complain that I should be able to hear with best hearing aids I can buy. I just recently told my children on my childhood abuse and they refuse to believe that their Godley Grandmother would strike me and cause such damage........ Help, can all these slaps be causing my severe hearing loss? Gary Reifschneidr
As per your clinical history is concerned I request you to visit your ENT doctor for a clinical examination first which will rule out any pathological causes.
Secondly, you have mentioned about crackling/popping sounds which can be due to only foreign bodies or hair rubbing against your drum. So take medication as per your doctors advise.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein,
General Surgeon
