What Causes Severe Headache Prior To Feeling The Urge To Urinate?

I frequently get a severe headache right before feeling the need to urinate. I do not have frequent urination, in fact quite the opposite, I am a busy teacher and mom and often go for long stretches without urinating, but I am not conscious of holding anything in - I simply don t feel the need often until after my head begins to hurt. But why would my head be hurting instead of my bladder? It definitely seems to be associated! (on a side note, I have recently been almost-diagnosed - awaiting ultrasound confirmation - with mitral valve prolapse; no idea if it could be related)

Mitral valve prolapse is associated with autonomic dysfunction which might possibly link headache and increased frequency of urination. But more importantly MVP needs to be confirmed with ECHO and though it's benign in many cases there's complications which might occur. Also MVP is associated with other diseases like collagen vascular diseases which should be evaluated. Please get in touch with your physician or cardiologist for further management.
