What Causes Severe Hair Loss?

Since age 40 I have through numerous periods of hair loss. I can now see my scalp more than I want. The thinning is mostly at the top of my head. I ve had hormone levels checked in the past and they have been alright. What could be causing my hair loss?

Here for your hair loss detail history like that for chronic illness, drug history etc should be taken...

Typhoid like chronic disease needs to be ruled out..

Hemoglobin level and protein estimation Also done... Corrected accordingly if needed...

Thyroid problem should be ruled out by serum TSH estimation..
CRP checked also for rule out chronic inflammation, infection if present...

You might prescribed healthy diet and more fruits along with vitamin supplements...

If family tendency present and hair loss pattern male type it might be alopecia areta for which topical minoxidil prescribed

Consult dermatologist for examination and accordingly treatment
