What Causes Severe Hair Loss Post A Green Light Laser Surgery For BPH?

My dad (81) recently (3 moths ago) had green light laser surgery for BPH and has not been recovering as well as expected. After 3 weeks recovery time his doctor removed finasteride and flowmax. A short time later most of his hair started falling out on his head, eyebrows, and he hasn t shaved in 2 months now and is smooth as baby s bottom. His other body hair remains. His urologist states it s unrelated to surgery or coming off the 2 medications. He takes no other medications except synthroid for about 5 years.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, hair loss is pertaining to the hormone changes at testosterone and dihydrotestosterone levels surely.

Kindly consult an expert endocrinologist as this is not a matter pertaining to a urologist for the further cure.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
