What Causes Severe Hair Loss After Suffering A Brain Haemorrhage?

I had a brain hemorrhage on apr 3 & spent 21 days in the UofP NeuroICU and a week in rehab. while in rehab I noticed hair loss. now it is nearly 3 months later and my hair is falling out in handfuls. I noticed a reddish/pink area at the base of my neck which seems to be where the hair is falling out. my therapist confirmed the area is irritated and the hair is missing there. Ideas. I am desperate!

Hello,

In my opinion, you should get done a few blood reports like thyroid function test, vitamin b 12 levels, vitamin D3 level, folic acid levels, etc.

Brain Hemorrhage can lead to thyroid disturbances and deficiency of these vitamins which ultimately leads to hair loss. So consult your doctor and discuss these tests.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
