What Causes Severe Hair Fall On Withdrawal From Iron Tablets?

Hi Doctor, My hair growth was really good when i was consuming the iron tablet. its been a year that i have stopped iron table. My hair has become thin and i have a bad hair fall. Can you please suggest me a good iron tablet, As i have forgotten the tablet i was taking. I am allergic to paracetamol. Thanks, Rajani

Thanks for the question..

As per your symptoms it seems you may have hair loss due to iron withdrawal as ample amount of iron is required for good hair growth..

If you have poor iron reserve in the body with or without anaemia can lead to hair fall and poor hair growth..

I would suggest you to visit a doctor and get your Iron Studies done to get checked for the Ferritin (Stored form of iron in body)reserves in the body as well as get checked for Hb%.

After knowing the exact values of the iron reserves the doctor will prescribe you iron tablets as required..
You should not take any tablet on your own as you may take overdose unknowingly and it can be harmful to your body..
