What Causes Severe Fatigue And Breathing Difficulty While Suffering From Bronchitis?

Hello-I am 64 years old and for the last 2 months have been extremely tired after a bout of bronchitis and pneumonia, not getting enough sleep and now my pcp has referred me to a pulmonary specialist for which he has ordered a ct throax w/o contrast material to look for interstitial pulmonary disease and bronchiectsis. He also has ordered a sleep study to be done at home for 3 nights. Do you think I should get my heart checked as well? Sometimes I have a really hard time catching my breath and my left heart/lung area feels so full.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Breathing difficulty can come from the lungs and from the heart too. Sometimes lung and heart problems can come together in a patient.

I recommend you to visit a cardiologist and do an ECG and a cardiac ultrasound to see for a possible cardiac origin of breathing difficulty.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Anila Skenderi, General & Family Physician
