What Causes Severe Cramps In The Toes Radiating To The Face?
Starting in April, after long runs on the trails, I have been having severe cramps that start at my toes and go up all the way to my face. All my muscles lock up and it is painful. I have to call for an ambulance and I go to the emergency where I receive bags of IV. I understand that I need to hydrate and take electrolytes when I run, as I have been running for years. I would expect my legs to cramp but why does my whole body cramp. Today was the latest incident and it happened after only a 3 mile walk/hike - there was no intense running involved today. The previous incident was on the previous week and after receiving 2 bags of IV and my blood work checked, I was released only to have it happen on the way home again. I had to go back to the ER and they gave me a another IV and a muscle relaxer. I have seen my doctor and he did a blood test and nothing was found. He told me to stay hydrated. I am getting frustrated because I feel that there is another underlying cause to this. What test should I ask to be run on me? Can this be a neuromuscular disorder?
it may be electrolyte imbalance go for estimation of electrolyte. if deficiency like sodium or potassium then it should be compensated, take rest and maintain hydration.
