General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The symptoms seem to be related to an upper respiratory tract infection.
I suggest your boyfriend to use anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the inflammation.
I also suggest using a throat spray for antibacterial properties and gargle with salty water.
I recommend to drink liquids and rest.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
