What Causes Severe Cough While On Amlodipine?
since taking this medication:Amlodipine 5 mg po daily, for last 3 weeks, i have developed a chronic coughing episodes to the point i want to pass out. would this be a side effect of this drug? i did this same thing with 2 other B/p medications 7 stopped taking them for that reason & the coughing has subsided. my doctor says no this is not a side affect. what is your opinion on this please.

Amlodipine does not cause cough like episode. There are many causes of cough that needs to be investigated.
Advice
1. Continue amlodipine as suggested by your doctor
2. You can take Benadry syrup per oral 2 teaspoonful three times daily. It may cause drowsiness, so please avoid driving
3. Gargle with slight warm water with added salt
4. Consult your doctor if further deterioration in your health occurs
