What Causes Severe Cough When I Lie Down?

I might be suffering from non-heartburn GERD according to th symptoms on this page:dry cough that is worse when I lay down to try to sleep for weeks; feeling like something is stuck in my throat, bad taste in th back of my mouth and generally feeling lousy, I had a very server heartburn experience in November but only one mild occurrence since then. I am generally in great health, exercise daily and maintain a low body weight at 65 years old, what treatment options are there for this kind of GERD? .

Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I read your query and here is my answer
It looks like you have dry cough due to gerd which irritates your throat when you lie down. For that you need to take less meals at a time. Have a gap of at least 2 hours between meals and going to bed. Raise the head end of your bed. you may need to use omeprazole or other PPI along with prokinetic drugs like itopride, metoclopramide etc.
Hope i answered your question. Feel free to ask more if you need further assistance. Thanks.
