What Causes Severe Cough At Night And Cramps In The Thigh?

I have been having a severe night cough for a week. I noticed my right thigh is has been cramped and my foot as well for the past 5 hours. I went to bed and then got up and took some benlyn cough syrup as my night cough is getting worse. Within a few minutes of taking cough syrup I started having chest pain (middle right chest /breast area) every 3 Rd or 4 th breathe, then got hiccups for a few minutes, now feeling extreme naueau. The leg cramping was strange and acute, chest pain started immediately after taking benlyn. I m debating going to emergency room. Cough and waves of naueau have been going on intensely for 7days. Mostly night cough laying down and sitting. I m exhausted and need to sleep its relentless and leg cramp and chest pain coming on so intense and quickly scaring me esp as there is a lot of stroke and heart disease in my family.

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hi,

Auscultation of chest is required. It is not related to stroke so need not be worried. You can consult a cardiologist for a check up and rule out cardiac involvement. Leg cramps and foot are neurological problem. You may consult a neurologist for examination and advice on the investigation. You are having anxiety neurosis. For cramps may examine the nervous system and electrolyte balancing should b done if there is any imbalance. It should be corrected. Blood analysis should be done and eosinophilia or any other related problem is found should be treated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashok Kumar Dash,
