What Causes Severe Cough And Chest Pain?

My roommate has been coughing violently for the past two weeks... it seemed to be getting better but returned with significant chest pain the past few days. Tonight she coughed and heard a pop on her left side and has been barely mobile since. Any ideas??

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
In my opinion you should consult pulmonologist for your room mate and get done
1. Chest x ray
2. PFT (pulmonary function test)
There are mainly 2 possibilities in her case.
1. Lung infection
2. Bronchitis
So, chest x ray is needed to rule out lung infection.
PFT is needed to rule out bronchitis.
S,Consult pulmonologist for her, first diagnose her and then start appropriate treatment.
Don't worry, she will be alright.
